Nano Finance (NF) in Nigeria is a collaboration with the Work of Mercy Initiative (WOMI). The partnership began in December of 2021. Today, WOMI, with continued financial support & operational guidance from Our Biswas, is actively making Nano Finance Program Loans in the slum communities of Abuja and Nsukka, Nigeria.
Ebere Ugwunweze, the President WOMI says:
We are all very grateful to the Board of Our Biswas and the funder of this noble project. The NF project was started in December 2021. We have made a total of 2321 loans to 1533 women through this life saving project. Nano finance project has made a lot of positive impact on the lives of hundreds of Nigerian women. We are very grateful and cannot thank you enough. The number of women accessing the loan increases every month and the news spreads like wildfire thereby increasing requests.
Success Stories
Patricia Fadason had no money to start a business. She started Kunu drink business with the NF loan. She has added the sale of malt drinks and oranges. She thanked all that made it possible for her to be busy, contribute financially to her family and earn respect from her husband. According to her, every woman needs be busy and make some money. That way, you will be respected as a woman.
Ngozi Nwafor was empowered in February 2022. She started a business(Roasted yam with pepper sauce) with it. Her daughter dropped out of school due to lack of money to pay her fees. She was able to enroll her child back in school from the proceeds of the business. She praised OB and WOMI for the help rendered to the women and prayed for growth of the organizations so they can help more people. She said so many kind words in appreciation.
Blessing Okike is a divorcee who depended on neighbours for livelihood. She got empowered and started roasted corn business. She said she can feed herself now. She prayed that this kind gesture be sustained so as to help so many indigent women. “May God bless all who contributed to my remaining alive “she said
Queen Ukachi expanded her business with the loan. She makes bags and also ties scaff for women. She praised WOMI and her partners and prayed for the sustenance of the gesture so that many more would benefit.
Magdalene Manesseh was selling only moi-moi. When she got the loan, she added cooked beans and rice to her business. She thanked all the funders and prayed that it goes round the country for poor women to be busy and earn respect in their homes.
Maryam Alhassan Adaji. Her husband lost her job and it became very difficult to feed. She got NF loan and started selling bedsheet. She hawks it because she has no money to pay for a shop. “NF loan has been very helpful. It puts food on our table. I feel so haopy that my family can feed now. Thank you for all that you do for us. God bless OB ,WOMI and all who contributed to this God’s work”, she said.
