Aamara Biswas, extended the Nano Finance Project to Chhattisgarh located East-Central India so the women of this region can benefit from the Nano Finance system. The Nano Finance project got extended to another state in India – Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. in January 2020.
The women of a village named Hafa in Bilaspur district welcomed us with warmth and gratitude. The initial distribution of funds for around 100 women was to support them with painting and fixing their homes, chicken farming, tea shops and many other daily income/livelihood needs. The project has a great success in the first year with support from our local co-ordinator Swati Updhaya.
Success Stories
I received an interest-free loan of RS 1000 from Aamara Biswas to begin my own small trading business. Each morning, I purchase fish from a large vendor and then sell them door to door throughout the day. The profits I earn from this daily trade allow me to gradually repay the loan to Aamara Biswas monthly. Over time, I have obtained three separate loans through this program. Thanks to this support, I am now able to provide for my family, and the assistance from Aamara Biswas has given me the courage to continue progressing.
My husband works as a daily wage labourer, and meeting our family’s basic needs was a constant challenge due to his limited income. To improve our situation, I took an interest-free loan of RS 1000 from Aamara Biswas to open a small store selling biscuits and chocolates. After successfully repaying that initial loan, my mother-in-law, and I took a second interest-free loan of RS 2000 to expand the shop further. Altogether, we have benefited from three interest-free loans provided by Aamara Biswas.
Mamata is unmarried, and her father works as a day labourer. Both her mother and older sister are unwell; her mother suffered a stroke, and they lacked funds for hospital treatment. Mamata and her sister borrowed RS 2000 from Aamara Biswas to pay for hospital care, and Mamata credits Aamara Biswas with helping her mother survive. Mamata and her mother have taken another RS 2000 loan for her sister’s medical treatment after paying the previous loan. Aamara Biswas saves life in case of emergency.
